Outstanding rare Victor Talking Machine Type 6 with a metal horn.  Coming directly from a local estate that belonged to a man who ran an antiques business in NYC for many years.   His collection was outstanding.  Great item for display.

According to one website, you can tell the earlier version by the way "6" is written as the type rather than "VI".  This means this was made between 1904-1906.   The case is all mahogany with gilt capitals on the columns.

The metal "tulip" horn seems original, however I have seen many other versions of the 6 with a wooden horn, so I am not sure.  Any advice on this topic is appreciated.

Condition:  In working order, however it needs a new needle.  When cranked up, the mechanism works great and spins with ease.  The crank had been damaged by over-cranking, but I was able to shape the metal back into place.  As long as you do not try to over crank, it will work fine.   There is general light wear from use, but no major damage to the case or horn.  The horn has some bends to the extremities, but nothing major.  General wear from use. Mechanism is well oiled, as seen in the photos.

Info from phonojack.com website:
"Robert W. Baumbach's book Look for the Dog, an Illustrated Guide to Victor Talking Machines describes the Victor VI "to be the finest talking machine the company could make and when introduced was their top-of-the-line instrument. The cabinet was fashioned out of solid mahogany a more expensive and luxurious wood than oak at the time. All exposed hardware was gold-plated (the first on a Victor machine), even the normally hidden motor parts were nickel-plated". I think many phonograph collectors that focus on Victor Talking Machines would agree the Victor VI is the finest of the Victors. Except for the rare compressed-air Victor Auxetophone that is outside the physical and financial reach of most collectors, my pick for the very best is the Victor VI."

SHIPPING:  We can ship the base, partially disassembled.  It will be a bit more difficult for us to ship the horn.  We will definitely have to ship it in a separate container, but may not be able to ship USPS due to the size.  We would suggest local pickup or have the local UPS store pack and ship it for you to ensure no damage.  Shipping will need to be determined prior to bidding.

Measurements:
32" Total height
Base: 8" H x 15 1/4" W x 15 1/4" D
24" DIA of horn
