Pair General Fireproofing Co. 1940s Aluminum Chairs Moore-McCormack Cruise Ship

Rare and highly unusual chairs by The General Fireproofing company (Goodform).  I believe these were a custom commission for a Moore-McCormack cruise ship in the 1930s or 1940s.  They are coming from the estate of a man whose father was purchasing agent in NY for the cruise ship company.  He evidentally had access to the chairs when the ship was decommissioned.

I was unable to find any other examples of this same chair by General Fireproofing.  Notice how there are small "bumper" pads on the back top portion - I believe these were for preventing the chairs from rubbing against the walls on a ship.  The lines are more elegant than most other examples by GF.

These would make excellent head chairs to a dining table.

The upholstery appears to be original.  The pads on the arms can be removed for the entire chair to be reupholstered.

Conditon:  General grime to the aluminum.  Solid condition.  Retains original label with order numbers as well as both with tags on underside.

Measurements:
35 1/2" H x 22 1/4" W x 17" D x 18 1/2" seat height
