A Pair of Hollywood Regency Horn Side Tables, c1940 Solid Wood

Rare and unusual side tables that date to the 1940s, directly out of an estate.  Made from solid blocked wood with a cantilevered effect.  Hand carved and painted in a white wash.  Could have been used on a theater set or from a design firm of that era.

Provenance:  Coming from the estate of Marjorie S. Goodman Graff.  Born in Chicago in 1914, she was the daughter Kenneth Sawyer Goodman, a playwright, in whose memory the Goodman Theatre of Chicago was later given to the Art Institute by her grandparents, William O. and Erna S. Goodman.  For a period of years, she was an interior decorator, starting in 1938 as the Chicago representative of Dan Cooper, Inc., a New York firm.  She moved to New Jersey in 1940 with her first husband, Charles S. Dewey Jr., she became active at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where she served on the original Junior Council and on the International Council.
