A Louis XVI Carved Settee French Sofa Scalamandre Silk Upholstery
This settee is coming from an estate where it has been since 1945. This piece was once in a large Short Hills, NJ estate that was professionally decorated in the late 1940s. Many of the pieces received custom finishes at that time. This is an early piece, possibly 19th century, but has been painted with a decorator’s finish.
Many of the pieces in the estate were covered in Scalamandre silk, which I believe this piece is as well. I have additional fabric in the same pattern from drapes that I will sell in another listing.
Condition: Overall very good. The finish appears to have browned over time. Light wear to the silk upholstery. Structurally sound and sturdy. General wear from use.
