Early 19th century George III mahogany kneehole desk with inset leather writing surface and rococo brass hardware. Directly from a wealthy NYC estate that had many fine period antiques. They purchased many items from Christie's, Sotheby's and Doyle over the years. Fine solid mahogany, 8 drawers, one interior "kneehole" cabinet, all raised on bracket feet. Oak secondary. English.

Provenance: Tag on drawer interior: "C.H. Fox / Dealer in Antique Furniture and Works of Art / 13 Ship St., Brighton" Note: This company dissolved in 1896.

Condition: No Key. Leather surface has wear from use. Some ripples to the writing surface and imperfections. Strong finish wear along the top edge from use. Missing one large brass bail to the side handles. The one side bail present is a replacement. One small piece missing along back finished panel. General scuffs and surface grime from use.
